Privacy Policy

Last updated

devbox.studio (“we”, “us”) is run by Forging Destiny Studios, LLC. This policy explains what happens to your information when you use the site. The short version: accounts are optional. Without one, your games stay in your browser. If you sign in, we keep your email address and your games so you can use them on any device. We use analytics to understand how the site is used.

Without an account, your games stay on your device

devbox.studio runs in your browser. The games you make, and the characters you unlock, are saved in your browser’s local storage on your device. If you don’t sign in, they are not uploaded to us and we cannot see, recover or delete them. Clearing your browser data removes them, so export a game to a file if you want a backup.

If you create an account

Signing in is optional. When you do, we store:

  • your email address, used to sign you in and to contact you about your account;
  • the games you make (including any that were already in your browser when you signed in) and the characters you unlock, so they follow you to other devices;
  • whether you accepted analytics cookies, so you aren’t asked again on each device;
  • when your account was created and when you last signed in, and the IP address and browser used to sign in, to keep accounts secure.

If you sign in with Google, Google shares your name, email address and profile picture with us. We only use your email address.

Accounts are run on Supabase, which stores this data for us. Your sign-in is remembered in your browser’s local storage, not a cookie. We keep your account data until you delete your account. Deleting your account from the Account page removes your email address and every game saved to it from our servers straight away; games still in your browser stay there. Games you share by link are still not sent to us by the link itself.

Share links

When you share a game, the whole game is packed into the link itself, after the #. Browsers do not send that part of a link to our servers, so we never receive the game. Anyone you give the link to can play and remix the game, and anyone they pass it on to can too. Don’t put personal information in a game you share.

What we collect

  • Vercel Web Analytics. We use Vercel Web Analytics to count page views. It records the page address (without the game data after the #), the referring site, and your rough location, browser, operating system and device type. It does not use cookies.
  • Google Analytics, only if you accept. When you first visit, we ask whether we can use analytics cookies. Only if you accept do we load Google Analytics, which helps us understand which pages and features people use, such as starting a game, playing a template or sharing a link. It sets cookies (named _ga and _ga_*) to recognise a returning browser, and collects the pages you visit, the actions you take, the referring site, your browser, device and rough location. Google processes this data for us. See how Google uses data from sites that use its services.
  • Server logs. The site is hosted by Vercel, whose servers keep standard request logs, including your IP address and browser details, for a short time to run and secure the service. See Vercel’s privacy policy.

These are the only cookies devbox.studio uses. Your cookie choice itself is remembered in your browser’s local storage, and if you’re signed in we also save it to your account, so you aren’t asked again on your other devices.

Unless you create an account, we don’t ask for your name, email or any account details. We don’t show ads, and we don’t sell or share personal information.

Children

Accounts are only for people 13 and older, and we ask you to confirm your age when you sign up. Children under 13 can use devbox.studio without an account. devbox.studio has no chat or public uploads, and we don’t knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 beyond the analytics described above. If we learn that a child under 13 has created an account, we will delete it. If you believe a child’s information has been collected, contact us and we will help remove it.

Your choices

You can delete saved games from the My games page, or clear all of them by clearing this site’s data in your browser. If you have an account, deleting a game also removes it from your account, and you can delete the whole account from the Account page. You can change your cookie choice at any time with at the bottom of every page; saying no stops Google Analytics and removes its cookies. You can also block cookies in your browser, use a content blocker, or install the Google Analytics opt-out add-on. If you have a privacy question or request, email us at hello@devbox.studio or info@forgingdestiny.com.

Changes

If we change how the site handles information, for example when community publishing launches, we will update this page and the date at the top before the change goes live.
